lyrics: Eddie Vedder
Son, she said, have I got a little story for you
What you thought was your daddy was nothin' but a...
While you were sittin' home alone at age thirteen
Your real daddy was dyin', sorry you didn't see him, but I'm glad we talked...
Oh I, oh, I'm still alive
Hey, I, I, oh, I'm still alive
Hey I, oh, I'm still alive
Hey...oh...
Oh, she walks slowly, across a young man's room
She said, I'm ready...for you
I can't remember, anything, to this very day
'Cept the look, the look...
Oh, you know where, now I can't see, I just stare...
I, I'm still alive
Hey I, but, I'm still alive
Hey I, boy, I'm still alive
Hey I, I, I, I'm still alive, yeah
Ooh yeah...yeah yeah yeah...oh...oh...
Is something wrong, she said
Well of course there is!
You're still alive, she said
Oh, and do I deserve to be?
Is that the question?
And if so...if so...who answers...who answers...
I, oh, I'm still alive
Hey I, oh, I'm still alive
Hey I, but, I'm still alive
Yeah I, ooh, I'm still alive
I recommend googling a live version of this song. I don't really know how to link (OK, I'm too lazy to work it out) but hearing this music live is why this song speaks to me.
The geek in me wants to hug you and say it is OK. When you find the song you want. Copy the URL which starts with http: then paste it into your post. Linking it is another step but the link is now available. 14 years of computer tech just jumped on to the page. Sorry if you didn't really want to know. It is like I can't help myself. Enjoy linking, the first one is the hardest after that it gets easier. :)
ReplyDeleteTHanks Ruth!! I have ambitions to learn and hopefully I'll figure it out!
DeleteHello Jess. I have tried to comment on your previous post but each time I do the words don't come out. Each time I return I have a different perspective on each item you asked about.
ReplyDeleteSince every one did such a good job I will STFU.
For now.
Hiya, I'm reading a few of your posts and have resisted the urge to write a novel as a reply on all of them, but I'm tempted! I really get where you're coming from when you write about emotional stuff, perspectives you have on your family drama, and the characters. The last post about the call with your dad was riveting. I was writing some big reply as I was reading and then realized you already had the awareness I was going to share. (about your parents wanting you to share in the 'burden' of your sister) However, I am replying to this post just to say, I hope you weren't being too hard on yourself by calling yourself lazy? I read on here somewhere about how FILLED UP your days are! It just didn't sound like a lazy person's life.
ReplyDeleteTrisha, thanks for the comment.
DeleteI am often too hard on myself. I took over my parent's task of beating me up on myself when I became an adult. But I'm working on it!
